Shortest paths in mixed graphs and nearly conservative digraphs

چکیده

Finding shortest paths in mixed graphs is NP-hard even when the weighting is conservative. We give an FPT algorithm for this problem, where the parameter k is the number of “negative trees”. We may always assume that the undirected edges have negative weights, and in a conservative weighting they form some trees – these trees are called the negative trees. Our algorithm extends to mixed graphs with conservative weighting, where in each strongly connected component there are at most k negative trees. Necessarily we can also detect whether the weighting is conservative or not. We also give a generalization for directed graphs, where any negative cycle has length 2.

Shortest Paths in Nearly Conservative Digraphs

We introduce the following notion: a digraph D = (V,A) with arc weights c : A → R is called nearly conservative if every negative cycle consists of two arcs. Computing shortest paths in nearly conservative digraphs is NP-hard, and even deciding whether a digraph is nearly conservative is coNP-complete. We show that the “All Pairs Shortest Path” problem is fixed parameter tractable with various ...

Shortest paths in conservative graphs

We give a polynomial algorithm to compute shortest paths in weighted undirected graphs with no negative cycles (conservative graphs). We show that our procedure gives a simple algorithm to compute optimal T-joins (and consequently all of their special cases, including weighted matchings). We nally give a direct algorithmic proof for arbitrary weights of a theorem of Seb} o characterizing conser...

On certain C-ultrahomogeneous graphs obtained from cubic distance transitive graphs

The notion of a C-ultrahomogeneous (or C-UH) graph due to D. Isaksen et al. is adapted for digraphs and applied to the cubic distance-transitive graphs considered both as graphs and digraphs when C is formed by shortest cycles and (k − 1)-paths with k = arc-transitivity. Moreover, (k − 1)powers of shortest cycles taken with orientation assignments that make these graphs become C-UH digraphs are...

Independent domination in directed graphs

In this paper we initialize the study of independent domination in directed graphs. We show that an independent dominating set of an orientation of a graph is also an independent dominating set of the underlying graph, but that the converse is not true in general. We then prove existence and uniqueness theorems for several classes of digraphs including orientations of complete graphs, paths, tr...

On the complexity of the shortest-path broadcast problem

We study the shortest-path broadcast problem in graphs and digraphs, where amessage has to be transmitted from a source node s to all the nodes along shortest paths, in the classical telephonemodel. For both graphs and digraphs, we show that the problem is equivalent to the broadcast problem in layered directed graphs. We then prove that this latter problem is NP-hard, and therefore that the sh...
